What Is Ondansetron Prescribed For?

Ondansetron is a selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. It is used in protocols designed with nausea relief in mind. Ondansetron blocks and/or antagonizes serotonin receptors in the brain that mediate the sensation of nausea. Most commonly, ondansetron is administered prior to surgery, radiation therapy, or chemotherapy.
