Overview

Sodium bicarbonate is an alkalinizing agent commonly used in medicine to neutralize acidity and adjust pH. While it is not a direct treatment for venous disease, it has several supportive applications in vein care procedures, particularly in sclerotherapy, endovenous procedures, and local anesthesia administration. When used in combination with lidocaine-epinephrine products, it aids in neutralizing the pH, allowing for reduced pain associated with injecting the solution into the skin.
